Keller announces Paul Schmall, to receive the 2025 Moles Award for Outstanding Achievement in Heavy Construction. Paul is Vice President in Keller’s Specialty Services business unit, focusing largely on tunneling and dam work.
The Mole’s Outstanding Achievement Award honors two individuals who display outstanding achievement and accomplishment in heavy construction.
With 37 years in the underground construction and geotechnical contracting industry, Paul has extensive experience with complex groundwater control, grouting, and ground freezing solutions for underground construction and remediation of geotechnical "failures" related to groundwater. He is very active within the tunneling community.
Paul has been a member of The Moles since 2002, serving recently as President for the 2022 to 2023 term. From 2009 to 2015, he was a member and chair of the Moles’ Education Committee. He also served as the first Chairman of the Moles Charitable Fund, part of the Moles, which oversees the awarding of scholarships to engineering students.
Paul credits the noteworthy achievements to the team and says, “This award is for the team. Nobody acts alone, and every success is a team effort. I have been fortunate to work closely with many dedicated and talented people.”
The award ceremony will be held on January 8, 2025, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

The Moles are a national organization of individuals engaged in the construction of tunnel, subway, sewer, foundation, marine, sub-aqueous, or other heavy construction projects. Founded in 1936 by a group who worked together on projects under Newark Bay and on the waterfront of Port Newark, the organization is considered the most prestigious heavy construction organization.
